Cash and gold worth Rs 11.60 lakh stolen from Ram Kapoor’s parent’s house
TV actor Ram Kapoor and his mother Rita Kapoor got a rude shock on Wednesday when Rita returned to her house Grand Paradi society, Malabar Hill and found that the locker in her room was broken into and cash and gold worth Rs 11.60 lakhs were stolen. The mother-son duo then went to the Malabar Hill Police Station the same evening to file a complaint. Reportedly, the theft took place while Ram’s father Anil, was abroad and Rita was at their farmhouse in Khandala. The crime branch officers did the initial investigation on Thursday morning and collected finger prints on the locker. Accordingly, a first investigation report has been filed against unidentified people under sections 454 (house break-in), 457 (house break-in by night) and 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code. Thought there is no update on the theft yet, the police suspect an insider’s involvement.
Ram was relieved that his parents weren’t home when the theft took place and that no one is hurt. Confirming the news to a leading tabloid, a Ram said, “My father has been out of the country for quite some time now and my mother was at our farmhouse in Khandala for the last four days. She is shaken by the incident. It was her locker that was broken into. The complaint was submitted Wednesday night.” The actor further added that though there is no update yet, he and his family have full faith in the police.
Ram also agreed with the police on an insider’s involvement as the thieves did not enter from the main gate. The main entrance, which is guarded by security, was untouched.
