Bajrangi bhaijaan vs bahubali
While Salman Khan's latest release Bajrangi Bhaijaan is inching towards crossing the Rs 300 crore mark at the box office, the Hindi dubbed version of SS Rajamouli's Prabhas-starrer Baahubali is all set to enter the Rs 100-crore-club.
The film, that also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Harshaali Malhotra and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles, has collected Rs 283.16 crore in 16 days of its release.
Trade analysrt Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#BajrangiBhaijaan (Week 3) Fri 4.11 cr, Sat 6.80 cr. Total: 283.16 cr. All time blockbuster."
Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli's epic saga Baahubali closed in on Rs 100 crore on Saturday (Aug 2).
Released on July 10 in four languages -- Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi -- simultaneously, the film has surprisingly performed extremely well.
Baahubali hit theatres a week before Bajrangi Bhaijaan and made a worldwide collection of Rs 300 crore within nine days of its release. "This is said to be fastest an Indian film has entered the Rs 200 crore club. It has grossed a whopping Rs 215 crore till Tuesday at the ticket window worldwide. There hasn't been a major dip in the collections even on week days," trade analyst Trinath had told IANS.
Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan said he Rajamouli's magnum opus Baahubali: The Beginning has inspired him. "To everyone involved, thanks for the inspiration. You can only reach the sky if you are willing to take the leap!" Shah Rukh tweeted.
Baahubali, a mythological drama about two brothers at war for a kingdom, stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. The second part in the franchise is slated for release next year.
